November 1st, the feast of All Saints.
Here at St John’s, November is a month to remember those who have died.
We especially commemorate those who died in wars, past and present.
We are selling poppies all this week and next week, to support the British legion. This fundraising helps families of soldiers who have died or who have been injured in war.
We would like to thank Major and Mrs Holmes who gave up an afternoon during the lead up to Remembrance Day: Mrs Homes spoke with KS1 pupils, Major Homes spoke with KS2 pupils, providing information about why we have Remembrance Day each year.
On Friday 11th, a group of our pupils participated in the town Remembrance day ceremony. They behaved most respectfully alongside other members of the local community to remember those who fight, who have fought and those who have died for our country.
Meanwhile, back in school the whole school community gathered together for a short assembly followed by 2 minutes silence in Remembrance .
