The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England, to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Dfe Pupil Premium
Pupils are eligible for the premium if they receive Free School Meals or have received them within the last 6 years, pupils who have a parent serving in the forces, or served within the last 6 years and pupils who are or have been in the care of the Local Authority.
The school decides on the best ways to support the pupils with this funding and uses the advice and research from The Education and Endowment Foundation. This organisation measures the benefits of a variety of provisions, in terms of how much additional progress pupils are likely to make.
