We are living Holy Week in St John's
Friday Life Skills group set the scene creating an Easter garden at the front of the school
Y2 led a Palm Sunday liturgy by acting our the event. It made us feel full of joy, greeting Jesus as our King. Hosannah!!
Y6 led the service of reconciliation. We listened to the Parable of the Lost Son, then took time to reflect on the things we have done wrong, which we call sins.As we reflected on this, stones were removed from the wall and it was more difficult to see Jesus. Then we asked Jesus to help us be better people and to not sin. As we thought about how we can be better people, we rebuilt the wall and it was easier to see Jesus again. After this, some children took the opportunity for individual confessions.
Mrs Lobban led a meditation when we all reflected on the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet.
Then finally, Y4 led a liturgy reflecting on the Last Supper, when Jesus broke the bread and shared both bread and wine, asking the disciples to remember him when he died. We hear these important words at mass during the liturgy of the Eucharist, when the priest consecrates the bread and wine and they transform into the body and blood of Jesus.
