What is happening at St John’s?
Friday 12th February: Brian Terry is leading an assembly for the whole of the school. He will be introducing this year’s theme and reminding the children about the principles of Fairtrade and why we have chosen to be a fairtrade school. Brian Terry is the Camborne town Fairtrade representative and actively involved in maintaining our town’s prestigious status of being a Fairtrade town.
Friday 26th February: Fairtrade tuck shop items will be delivered. many items for under £1, including some gluten free items. We have also requested a Traidcraft catalogue, so if any parents would like to view this and make some orders, please see Mrs Lobban.
Monday 29th February – Friday 13th March: FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT!!!!!! The theme this year:
The school councillors will be running a Fairtrade tuck shop daily at 10.30 – 10.45. Items available for less than £1. All classes will have Fairtrade lessons during this fortnight.
Friday 11th March: We will celebrate the end of Fairtrade fortnight with a Fairtrade day!. Brian Terry will spend the day with us. He will visit classes to answer questions about fairtrade, and share the work that classes have done. In the afternoon, we will have a celebration assembly, led by every class, sharing our Fairtrade learning this year. Then, Y3 will lead a Fairtrade coffee afternoon for all parents and parishioners. Brian will be happy to meet with anyone who would like to find out more about Fairtrade, or how to become actively involved in supporting this.
Then…… we will apply for the highest Fairtrade award!! we will be the first school in Camborne to achieve this award.
