Monday 26th February - Sunday 11th March
We enjoyed learning more about Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight 2018. This year’s theme was “Come on in to Fairtrade”
Monday 26th February: Brian Terry led an assembly for the whole of the school. He reminded us about the principles of Fairtrade and how we can use our incredible brains to consider ways to support Fairtrade.
Monday 26th February – Friday 9th March: Fairtrade tuck shop items were delivered. The Fairtrade tuck shop was open daily during Fairtrade Fortnight at morning breaks from 10.30 – 10.50. The School councillors and Eco warriors ran the tuck shop, led by Mrs Richards and supported by Mrs Mac’s team of support staff. The total amount raised during Faritrade fortnight was £405!!! Brian Terry was delighted with the amount raised!
Monday 26th February – Friday 9th March: All classes spent at least one lesson learning about an aspect of Fairtrade
Friday 9th March: We celebrated the end of Fairtrade fortnight with a Fairtrade day! Brian Terry spent the day with us. In the morning, he spent time speaking to and answering questions about Fairtrade. He spoke with KS1 about their learning about bananas and Brazil nuts. He spoke with Y3 and Y4 about their learning about chocolate and tea, then he finished the morning in Y5 talking about their Fairtrade learning about footballs and the story of Samuel and his coffee farm.
In the afternoon, the children led a celebration assembly. Every class shared their Fairtrade learning. Lots of parents, governors and parishioners joined us.
Remember…… last year, we achieved the highest Fairtrade award – we are a Fairachiever school!! We remain the only Fairtrade school in Camborne.
