Thursday 17th December, St John’s School joined the town of Camborne in the annual lantern parade. Lots of schools and hundreds of people crowded the streets of Camborne for the occasion, creating a magical lamp-lit atmosphere.
Our group of children gathered at school in the evening, to put on our high vis jackets (kindly donated earlier in the term by Specsavers). Then, we walked into town to meet with the other schools. Led by a fantastic samba band, all the schools with their lanterns processed through the streets, waving and soaking up the atmosphere, before finally gathering at the square for a samba finale. Our star, made by Y5 and 6 pupils looked amazing as we held it high during the procession!
It was such a joyous occasion, and it was fantastic to be part of this community event. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
